The History of the Paper Chase Trust
Beginning with Shirley & Eddy Johnson from Cheshire, who were on holiday at the Turtle Bay Beach Club, Watamu. Here they saw beyond their holiday and luxury and forged a friendship with Local man Festus Jefwa, from the Malindi District.
Getting to know Festus they met his family & children, and in particular adored the babies, who were badly affected with mosquito bites, which could potentially lead to their premature death. They were (and are) a happy and loving family despite missing basics like protection against parasites, drawing paper for the children etc, immediately melting the hearts of our now retired founders.
Later that day Shirley and Eddy, set about making some samples of homemade mosquito nets. These were for use in the village huts and also to show they wanted to help. Their commitment began.
Upon getting back to the UK they sort to help further with one of the first bits being from their local chip shop who gave a ream of chip wrapping paper to Shirley to send to the children in Kenya. And so the commitment to fundraise within the UK began, as Shirley and Eddy realised that people in the UK would support them in their drive to assist those less fortunate..
